About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs Rockport Works is seeking a Maintenance Planner/Shift Manager to provide frontline leadership to skilled‑trades employees in our Pickling Department. This role is responsible for coordinating daily and downtime maintenance activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of critical plant systems. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Commitment to enforcing safety protocols and ensuring compliance with environmental and quality standards
  • Strong organization skills
  • Proficient computer skills, including database entry, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint
  • Proven electrical or mechanical knowledge and basic related work experience
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Flexibility to work extended hours, nights, and weekends when necessary
  • Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work in the United Stated on a full-time basis

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related Technical field or combination of education / experience
  • Journeyman rating or licensure in function overseen

Responsibilities

  • Lead and direct hourly maintenance personnel during daily operations and downturns.
  • Oversee operation and maintenance of boilers, ensuring reliable steam supply and completion of inspections and PM tasks.
  • Manage RO water treatment systems to ensure consistent water quality for production processes.
  • Supervise air compressor operations to maintain reliable compressed air for plant operations.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate maintenance using CMMS tools; maintain accurate TS16949 documentation.
  • Evaluate and prioritize maintenance requests and coordinate with engineering, operations, and vendors.
  • Prepare outage-related reports and assist with resource and cost planning.
  • Enter requisitions for parts, supplies, and contracted services; manage maintenance backlog.
  • Direct troubleshooting and repairs on production equipment, facilities, and utilities.
  • Support safety, quality, and maintenance procedure implementation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
