Position Summary The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the strategic planning, scheduling, and coordination of all maintenance activities through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This role ensures maintenance work is properly planned, resourced, scheduled, and executed to support safe, reliable, and cost‑effective plant operations. The Maintenance Planner serves as the CMMS system owner, leads continuous improvement initiatives, manages vendor relationships, and drives performance through data analysis, reporting, and world‑class manufacturing practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in maintenance planning and scheduling within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Reliability or maintenance certifications (e.g., CMRP, CRL, PMP)
  • Strong working knowledge of CMMS platforms (e.g., Infor, Hexagon, Maximo, SAP PM, Oracle, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, develop reports, and translate insights into actionable improvements
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement or world‑class manufacturing initiatives
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power Bi, and Access
  • Strong planning, organization, and prioritization skills
  • Data‑driven decision making and analytical capability
  • Effective communication and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Leadership and influence without direct supervision
  • High attention to detail and system discipline
  • Continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to accurately gather, input and report on inventory and system data through manual or automated systems

Responsibilities

  • Own and oversee all maintenance planning and scheduling activities within the CMMS to ensure work is appropriately prioritized, scoped, and scheduled
  • Develop and maintain the master maintenance schedule, balancing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work
  • Ensure a balanced workload demand by properly allocating labor, materials, tools, and contractor resources
  • Support maintenance supervisors with finite scheduling and execution planning as needed to optimize workforce utilization
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with operations to minimize downtime and production disruption
  • Serve as the CMMS System Administrator and subject matter expert
  • Act as the plant’s key leader for CMMS implementation, adoption, and best‑practice usage
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of CMMS data, including asset hierarchies, job plans, preventive maintenance tasks, bills of materials, and labor standards
  • Lead ongoing development, optimization, and continuous improvement of the CMMS to support plant reliability and performance goals
  • Train and support CMMS users to ensure consistent and effective system usage plant‑wide
  • Conduct in‑depth data analysis and reporting to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities related to cost, reliability, labor efficiency, and asset performance
  • Develop and monitor department metrics (KPIs) such as schedule compliance, backlog health, labor utilization, PM compliance, and maintenance cost performance
  • Identify deficiencies and lead improvement initiatives to address performance gaps in support of world-class manufacturing initiatives
  • Support reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM), preventive maintenance optimization, and root cause analysis efforts
  • Oversee all vendor and contractor relationship management, including coordination, performance monitoring, and compliance with site requirements
  • Ensure external resources are properly planned, scheduled, and integrated into the maintenance plan
  • Partner with procurement and leadership to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve contractor effectiveness
  • Model and promote collaboration, accountability, and standardized ways of working across maintenance, operations, and support teams
  • Act as a key liaison between maintenance, operations, engineering, and planning to ensure alignment and execution excellence

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
  • For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
