About The Position

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for ownership of the maintenance planning process and CMMS administration for a Tier 1 automotive driveshaft manufacturing facility. This role ensures that preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance work is properly scoped, planned, scheduled, and executed to maximize equipment reliability and uptime. This position is not clerical scheduling only. The Planner serves as process owner for eMaint (CMMS), drives maintenance workflow discipline, and manages external vendor support for Maintenance and Facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning and CMMS administration.
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission.
  • Proven ability to build job plans and estimate labor requirements.
  • Experience managing external contractors.
  • Proficiency with CMMS (eMaint preferred) and SAP or similar ERP.
  • Familiar with OSHA, NIOSH, federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Familiar with IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 requirements
  • Must have working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical power transmission systems.

Responsibilities

  • CMMS Ownership & Administration: Serve as system owner and administrator for eMaint CMMS. Maintain asset hierarchy, PM structure, job plans, BOMs, task libraries, and user permissions. Generate monthly PM schedules and balance technician workload. Audit work order quality for failure codes, labor hours, and parts accuracy. Train technicians and supervisors on proper CMMS usage.
  • Work Planning & Scheduling: Develop detailed job plans including scope, labor hours by craft, parts, tools, safety requirements, and LOTO steps. Maintain an accurate 2–4 week planned backlog. Prioritize work based on risk, safety, and production impact. Balance weekly labor capacity across shifts. Improve ratio of planned vs emergency work.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Own coordination of all external maintenance and facilities contractors. Define scope of work and obtain competitive quotations. Align scope with SAP purchase orders and budget approvals. Schedule contractor work to minimize production risk. Ensure contractors comply with plant safety standards. Verify quality of completed work prior to closeout.
  • Reliability & Continuous Improvement: Develop and refine preventative and predictive maintenance programs using OEM guidelines and failure history. Support root cause analysis and reliability improvement efforts. Monitor and improve KPIs including: PM completion rate Schedule compliance MTBF and MTTR Backlog health PM to breakdown ratio
