Job Description The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Aide 3 for the Facilities Maintenance Services (FMS) Department. This position is responsible for delivering and moving furniture, fixtures and equipment used to host events. Duties include (but are not limited to): Set-up and break down of furniture and equipment for special events; Furniture pickup, delivery, cleaning and inventory; Coordinate with Facilities Maintenance department personnel, event coordinators, faculty, staff, and students on furniture delivery and set-up; Assist trades in the delivery and removal of construction debris or equipment; Schedule the delivery and set up of large freight and equipment; Keep warehouse clean and organized; and Other duties as assigned. Requirements

  • This position requires one (1) year of experience performing manual labor and unskilled work; OR Six (6) months of experience as a Maintenance Repair Aide II in Nevada State service; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
  • Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
  • A valid Class “C” driver’s license or higher operator’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
  • The job requires working with and around hazardous building materials containing asbestos and solvents; frequent lifting, climbing, moving, and installing of heavy objects, many in awkward or high locations; and exposure to hot and cold temperatures when working outside.
  • This position requires walking or standing to a significant degree and pushing and/or pulling; exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • This position requires the ability to see, hear, and communicate through speech.

Nice To Haves

  • Operating equipment used for deliveries and moving (hand trucks, lift gates, delivery vehicles, tie downs, etc.)
  • Operating basic hand and power tools (hammer, screwdriver, tape measure, power drill, etc.)
  • The ability to read and interpret work orders and operation manuals
  • The ability to safely lift and move heavy objects
  • Utilizing basic computer skills such as email and electronic calendars and experience with Microsoft Word.
