The University of Nevada, Reno is recruiting for a Maintenance Repair Worker 3 for the Environmental Health & Safety department. This position will be responsible for the inspection of health and safety infrastructure at the university to maintain regulatory compliance and ensure the safety of faculty, staff, students, and visitors. Examples of inspected equipment include, but are not limited to, emergency eyewash and safety showers, AEDs, and emergency laboratory placards. This position will complete OSHA required facility assessments, of walkways, stairs, and fences, documenting these assessments and submitting work orders as needed. This position will cover emergency door card placard assessments and updates which include maintaining inventory of all emergency door card placards and input into the GIS database, and install or submit work orders for installation of placard holders. The position also supports campus operations through a consistent, scheduled preventive maintenance and inspection program that spans multiple facilities and building types. Work is performed independently within established procedures and maintenance schedules, with coordination across Facilities Services, EH&S, and external vendors as needed. The role requires reliability, attention to detail, and the ability to work across a broad geographic area, often with minimal direct supervision, while adhering to established safety practices and maintenance standards. This position requires regular physical activity, including walking campus facilities, standing for extended periods, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and working in confined or hard-to-access areas. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries, and moves tools, equipment, and materials associated with maintenance and inspection activities. Work may involve exposure to wet surfaces, temperature variations, noise, and mechanical or electrical equipment. The incumbent may work indoors and outdoors and may be exposed to cleaning agents, treated water, or other materials commonly encountered during facility maintenance. Appropriate personal protective equipment is used in accordance with established safety procedures.
