Responsibilities include:

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Specialized training as a machinist or in another trade is desirable.
  • Experience: At least six years of prior general plant and machine maintenance experience. Previous experience as a maintenance supervisor.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Proven ability to lead teams that do not work on the same shift.
  • Able to come in on off shifts to assist, train, or work with the maintenance team.
  • Ability to communicate and work with all employees in the facility

Responsibilities

  • Direct, supervise, and coordinate general plant maintenance activities, the maintenance and repair of machines, electrical systems, structures, facilities, and tool and die operations.
  • Responsible for the quality of repairs, methods applications, scheduling of work, determination of malfunctions, and extent and nature of repairs, and type of materials or parts needed.
  • Plan, organize, and assign work to utilize the skills, abilities, and experience of the available workforce.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Production Control to schedule an optimal time to make permanent repairs.
  • Determine the need for, and extent of repairs, check stock repair parts, and requisition needed parts through purchase or work order. Plan and schedule repairs.
  • Assist Engineering in planning for and supervising the preliminary installation operations, movement, and erection of new machines or for plant layout changeovers.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, and supervision for the machining of repair parts, fabrication of details, erection, assembly, and fitting of bearings, gear trains, alignment or working parts, etc.
  • Supervise and coordinate the preventative maintenance program.
  • Coordinate the activities of contractors, factory representatives, and others engaged in repairing, overhauling, and rebuilding special or highly intricate and precise machinery.
  • Participate in and coordinate company programs, e.g., communications, job training, vacation schedules, lock-out/tag-out, hazard communication, etc.
  • Monitor the use of safety devices and equipment, general housekeeping, and maintain a constant alert for hazardous conditions and practices.
  • Maintain an adequate and efficient workforce by skill requirements and work levels and schedule man-hours.
  • Maintain conformance with rules and regulations.
  • Maintain adequate record-keeping per department requirements.
