About The Position

The Maintenance Supervisor oversees all maintenance activities within a high-volume food manufacturing facility producing waffles, pancakes, French toast, and breakfast sandwiches. This role ensures that production equipment, ovens, freezers, conveyors, packaging lines, and facility systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with food safety standards. The supervisor leads a team of maintenance technicians and supports continuous improvement across the plant.

Requirements

  • Experience in food manufacturing or a similar high-speed production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, PLC, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with bakery or breakfast-food equipment preferred.
  • Understanding of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
  • Leadership experience in a maintenance or technical role.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and equipment manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance and repair of processing equipment such as griddles, ovens, spiral freezers, batter mixers, depositors, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all breakfast-product lines.
  • Ensure proper calibration of temperature-controlled equipment used for cooking, freezing, and holding.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with HACCP, GMP, SQF, and FDA requirements.
  • Support sanitation teams by ensuring equipment is designed and maintained for easy, safe cleaning.
  • Document maintenance work to support audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Coordinate lockout/tagout procedures and ensure strict adherence.
  • Lead, train, and evaluate maintenance technicians across multiple shifts.
  • Assign work orders, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion.
  • Provide technical guidance on troubleshooting and equipment operation.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, PM tasks, and equipment history.
  • Analyze downtime trends and recommend improvements to increase line efficiency.
  • Participate in root-cause analysis for recurring equipment failures.
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and new line installations.
  • Enforce OSHA safety standards and company safety policies.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, including boiler rooms, refrigeration systems, and utility areas.
  • Ensure proper functioning of HVAC, compressed air, steam, and water systems.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Manage spare parts inventory for critical production equipment.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and contractors for specialized repairs or installations.
  • Review vendor performance and ensure timely service delivery.
