About The Position

The Maintenance Lead plays a hands-on role in leading the maintenance technicians on the assigned shift with the focus on guiding the team in daily tasks, assist in delegating work orders, providing technical expertise, and actively participating in maintenance activities. The lead will also keep the crew focused on achieving the common goal for the plant.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Associates degree, certification or higher within in a technical field preferred
  • Maintenance Technician level 2 or above (required).
  • 2+ years of experience in leadership roles in maintenance.
  • Safe use of various hand and power tools, welders, lifts, multi-meters, industrial shop equipment
  • Read and interpret schematics for process and instrumentation diagrams, and repair variable frequency drives, servo motors and controllers, communication systems, PLC input/output cards, and safety modules.
  • Excellent use of computer and software skills such as MS office, excel, word, and email.
  • Experience with a CMMS system.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead maintenance teams effectively.
  • Ability to manage well under pressure while staying true to the company values.
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on any task.
  • Reliable and punctual - must adhere to attendance and absenteeism policy.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize work while multitasking.
  • Excellent communication skills both orally and written.
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a “can-do” and positive attitude.
  • Ability to provide and receive open and regular feedback and adjust accordingly.
  • Works collaboratively within various teams. Ability to adjust communication/leadership style as needed and when appropriate.
  • Fully accountable owner of self and team behaviors and results.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/move 8-12 hours per day.
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs/ladders throughout shift.
  • Fine motor skills and dexterity for manipulation
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including (but not limited to) bump cap, safety steel toe shoes, safety glasses, dust masks or PAPRs.
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift experience a plus (certification not required).

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and drive all Plant and Safety policies and procedures, including wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as well as adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Ensure team members are accountable to same.
  • Ensure equipment meets safety standards and regulations.
  • Lead the team of maintenance technicians on the assigned shift, providing guidance, support, and direction.
  • Delegate tasks, set priorities, and ensure that the team operates efficiently.
  • Assist in delegating work orders and assign additional work if necessary.
  • Utilize strong technical knowledge to troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues with production machinery and equipment.
  • Perform hands-on maintenance tasks and repairs as needed, serving as a role model for the team.
  • Lead the team in identifying root causes of equipment malfunctions and breakdowns.
  • Ensure completion of daily “Work Summary Report” by the end of shift.
  • Follow-up with any team members when there are issues with “Work Orders” or the summary reports.
  • Ensure PM’s/ work order paperwork is completed before departure from plant.
  • Assist the supervisor with developing/updating SOP’s.
  • Maintain clear and open communication within the maintenance team, providing guidance, instructions, and support to technicians, as well as fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor, production and other departments to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure the smooth flow of operations.
  • Finding parts in the CMMS system.
  • Ensure parts used from inventory are reported and documented in accordance with inventory control program guidelines.
  • Optimize the use of resources, including tools and equipment.
  • Communicate detailed and accurate shift performance through end of shift reports, shift handover meetings, email, action logs, work orders, etc.
  • Ensure smooth shift changes by communicating important information to incoming shifts, including updates on work in progress, equipment conditions, and any outstanding issues or concerns.
  • Escalate concerns to supervisor as it relates to safety, quality, performance goals, productivity, continuous improvement, and teamwork/harmony.
  • Train new maintenance technicians and provide ongoing training to existing team members.
  • Ensure the completion of all necessary training is completed on shift assigned.
  • Encourage team members to provide suggestions for process improvements and efficiency enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in maintenance operations and actively communicate to management.
  • Perform other various job duties as required.
