About The Position

Recreation and Wellness Center: At the UCF Recreation and Wellness Center, we strive to provide a safe, clean, dependable, quality, and fun environment. The Opportunity: The UCF Recreation and Wellness Center is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Technician I. This role is responsible for performing corrective repairs and preventive maintenance associated with the Recreation and Wellness Center facilities. The technician performs maintenance on all buildings, pools, vehicles, weight room equipment, intramural sports fields and equipment. This position/classification may be moved at management’s discretion within the SSWB division to a commensurate level position as determined by the VP of SSWB of his/her designee.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades; or a high school diploma and 2 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license.
  • This position may involve driving utility carts and vans across campus to recreation spaces.
  • This position requires working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and adapting to indoor and outdoor environments in varying conditions.
  • Requires repetitive stooping and bending and the ability to lift 50lbs.
  • May be required to lift more than 50lbs with help.
  • Applicant must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer, as sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, building, and installing mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret building plans, schematics, and technical diagrams for accurate repairs and installations.
  • Certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED.

Responsibilities

  • Execute repairs, maintenance, and replacements for electric motors, generators, and mechanical components within HVAC, electrical, and aquatic (pool) systems.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance for all facilities and equipment to ensure operational efficiency and longevity.
  • Perform interior and exterior finishes, including the repair and refinishing of walls, flooring, windows, and ceilings as required.
  • Provide technical assistance for concrete, asphalt, and wood-based construction projects.
  • Maintain accurate logs for tools, paints, chemicals, and essential maintenance supplies to ensure equipment accountability and stock availability.
  • Facilitate outdoor equipment setups and teardowns while managing comprehensive job site cleanup to maintain a safe environment.
  • Support all areas of the Recreation and Wellness Center (RWC) to uphold the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and facility maintenance.
