About The Position

The Grand Format Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining the plant production machinery, service equipment and physical building systems. Printers and finishing equipment that will require support from this role includes but not limited to EFI Vutek printers, Durst printers, Inca, Oce Colorado, Dgen, HP latex series, HP Z series, Mimaki, laminator machines, UV machines, Sewing and Grommet Machines, ZUND, and Fotoba.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years related field and technical managed print services experience including experience installing, maintaining, removing small and large format machines in customer locations.
  • Must be proficient in Adobe and Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Good hand/eye coordination.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Minimum two-year technical degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, digital, and electronic technology
  • Minimum two years in field engineering positions servicing complex electro-mechanical devices and high demand customer locations
  • Demonstrated management skills, strong commitment to efficiency
  • Demonstrate ability to independently manage maintenance logs, training schedules
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems to the component level
  • Demonstrated ability to provide telephone technical support and to effectively communicate (telephone and email) with Product Service Engineers and Production Team (Hardware and Applications)
  • Working knowledge of RIPS, color theory, Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems and basic networking protocols
  • Working knowledge of materials and chemicals used in the printing industry highly desirable
  • In-depth knowledge of personal computers, industrial inkjet printers, large format and Digital printers and/or presses and printing applications.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage wiring, capability of identifying and qualifying single phase as well as three phase power requirements
  • Ability to demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude including using critical alignment tools holding tolerances of .001"
  • Ability to operate a gas and electrical forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install digital and large format machines
  • Accurately diagnose, repair, maintain digital and large format machines as well as software
  • Participate in installs and removals
  • Maintain hardware and software by responding to emergency service requests including diagnose problems, order the parts, complete repairs or recommend solutions
  • Build and foster relationships with vendors, and manufacturers
  • Provide production with clear proactive information on service issues
  • Change the inkjets and printer heads as needed
  • Perform a complete repair or service on each machine
  • Help the plant run to optimal production levels by repairing or installing equipment and respond to breakdowns or faulty equipment calls throughout the plant.
  • Use and properly maintain precision measuring equipment.
  • Select and use correct materials, fasteners and apply correct lubricants.
  • Install and maintain bearings, seals, and packing, materials handling systems, power transmission systems, compressors and pumps, pipe systems, valves, fans, blowers, office equipment as required.
  • Safely troubleshoot mechanical/electrical problems, weld, braze, and solder and perform minor repairs as required.
  • Log equipment issues and repairs required, include a summary of the problem(s) and repair; or escalate issue to plant management and service companies as required.
  • Assist plant management in maintaining a proactive preventative maintenance program
  • Conduct routine checks and service equipment as required.
  • Safely perform simple operations using hand and machine tools as required to meet code standards for any physical building systems required
  • Assist plant management with purchasing spare/replacement parts or equipment.
  • Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.…
  • Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations including departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and workstations are in good working order and are free of safety hazards.
  • Report all workplace hazards to management immediately.
  • Wear all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
  • Report all work related injuries, illnesses, and/or near misses to management immediately.
  • Must keep all work area/station in compliance with our housekeeping guidelines.
  • Must follow and adhere to all workplace safety rules and guidelines.
