Pay Information: $24.00 - $30.00 Summary: Responsible for the operation, maintenance and repair of ammonia refrigeration and HVAC utility equipment/systems, and other facility equipment. Plays a vital supporting role in the continued progress of the plant process safety management system (PSM) A good understanding of and no physical problems with NH3 systems. (Ammonia). Has a good working knowledge of two stage industrial ammonia systems. Daily chemical testing of condenser cooling water, logging all test results, and making the adjustments required to maintain cooling water. Safe and efficient operation of refrigeration system. Performs ammonia systems established preventative maintenance and identifies new PM activities, as needed. Repair of ammonia systems related equipment. Analyze and solve electro/mechanical problems related to the ammonia System. Comply with plant regulatory programs such as PSM and Risk Management Program (RMP). Will spend extended periods of time in a cold and wet, as low as 30F degree temperature environment. Perform duties in a confined space. Work at high elevations on ladders or mechanical lifts. Safety & Quality: Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, and procedures related to team member safety, food safety, and quality programs. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or suitable equivalent.
  • Possess IIAR Industrial Refrigeration I
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 2+ year experience performing maintenance and repairs on ammonia refrigeration systems
  • 2-year experience with HVAC
  • Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating.
  • Working knowledge of boiler systems.
  • Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and personal skills.
  • Will demonstrate, promote, and exemplify the Company’s Core Values in People, Quality and Growth.
  • Proficient in reading schematics and work plans in English.
  • Able to obtain and maintain the Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) and Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) certifications if provided the opportunity
  • Willingness to continue education in HVAC field

  • Ability to work after hours, over weekends and on public holidays with short or no notice.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, organize own work, set priorities, and meet critical time deadlines.
  • Occasionally lift and carry 25-50 pounds
  • Requires standing, stooping, walking, sitting, bending, crawling, squatting, kneeling, climbing and working in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work inside and outside with frequent exposure to inclement weather conditions, temperatures can range from -20 to 130 degrees.
  • Involves routine exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards when entering production areas
  • Must be able to work in cold environmental conditions, routinely 30-45 degrees
  • Must be able to climb and work from a ladder in a safe manner
  • Must be able to work with hands over head.
  • Must be able to stand and walk on cement floor for extended periods of time, up to 10 hours
  • Must be able to lift, reach, and carry objects for extended periods of time as required to complete assignments
  • Requires talking, seeing, hearing and using fine dexterity skills as required to complete assignments
  • Work involves occasional driving and ability to travel in vehicle
  • Must be able to work in office environment, and operate office equipment: printers, scanners, fax, copiers
  • Requires use of handheld data collection device, handheld radio

Responsibilities
