About The Position

BlueScope Recycling is a full-service, ferrous scrap metal recycler with processing facilities in Waterloo, IN, Delta, OH, and Mansfield, OH. BlueScope Recycling buys scrap from industrial generators, wholesale suppliers, and the general public, focusing on delivering the highest level of service. Summary: The Maintenance Technician I maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard, performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs, conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement and identifies wear and damage. The technician uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors. A Maintenance Technician I orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1+ years’ related experience and/or may have completed a trade apprenticeship or technical training.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard.
• Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs.
• Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement and identifies wear and damage.
• Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
• Orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLC’s.
• Welds, grinding, weld set-up, and torching.
• Set up and break down machinery.
• Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.
• Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.
