About The Position

We are currently hiring a skilled Industrial Maintenance Technician in our Greenville, South Carolina facility. In this role, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing and completing preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment. The role requires someone with a strong welding and fabrication skillset who can follow both verbal and written instructions, along with the ability to stay flexible in case of emergencies or breakdowns. In addition to the skills listed below, the ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, have familiarity with pipefitting, be a self-starter capable of working independently while demonstrating punctuality and dependability. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Employee must pass a fitness for duty test, drug screen and submit to a TB test on a post offer employment physical. Observe all company policies, rules, procedures, regulations and perform all duties assigned by management in a safe, efficient, and courteous manner. Perform industrial welding and fabrication on carbon steel and stainless steel in a process plant environment. Lay out, fabricate, fit, and install process piping systems including threaded, socket-weld, butt-weld, and flanged connections. Read and interpret P&IDs and equipment drawings to execute fabrication and installation work accurately. Cut, bevel, thread, tack, and weld pipe and structural components to ASME and plant standards. Fabricate pipe supports, brackets, platforms, and structural components as required. Perform hot work including SMAW, GTAW (TIG), and oxy-fuel cutting. Modify existing piping systems, tanks, and process equipment during maintenance activities, shutdowns, and capital projects. Assist with installation, alignment, and tie-in of pumps (lobe, gear, diaphragm, mag-drive, centrifugal), valves, and related process equipment. Inspect welds and completed assemblies to ensure quality, structural integrity, and code compliance. Respond to emergency repair needs and breakdown situations with minimal supervision. Work safely under hot work permits, lockout/tagout, line break, and confined space entry procedures. Maintain accurate fabrication and repair documentation as required. Maintain welding machines, tools, and fabrication equipment in proper working order. Support contractors and other maintenance personnel during plant outages and projects Work in a safe manner following all plant safety procedures. Strictly follow confined space entry, PPE, lockout-tagout procedures and confined space entry. Able to pass a pulmonary function test (PFT) and wear appropriate respiratory PPE. This does require that the face be clean shaven at all times. Follow safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including respiratory protection when required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an industrial welder, pipefitter, or fabricator in a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of ASME piping practices and industrial process piping systems.
  • Ability to perform SMAW and GTAW welding on carbon and stainless steel (certifications preferred).
  • Experience fitting and installing threaded, flanged, and welded piping systems.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings, and fabrication prints.
  • Experience working with steam systems, process lines, tanks, and pressure-containing equipment.
  • Knowledge of pump systems and ability to assist in removal and reinstallation.
  • Strong understanding of safe work practices including hot work, LOTO, line break, and confined space entry.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during outages and emergency repairs.
  • Skilled in use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and quality control standards.
  • Effective communication and ability to work within a team-oriented maintenance department.
  • Must be able to pass a stainless steel, open root, schedule 40 weld test in the 6G position.
  • Familiarity with safe work practices, including hot-work, lockout/-tag-out, line break, and confined space entry permits.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions with high attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
  • High School Diploma, required.
  • Previous industrial maintenance experience of at least two (2) years, preferred.
  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing steps, working at heights greater than 15 feet on a mezzanine or ladder.
  • Ability to carry heavy loads of up to 50 pounds or more.
  • Ability to pass a respirator certification and wear appropriate respiratory protective equipment as necessary.
  • Squeezing through narrow spaces.
  • Working in tight or uncomfortable positions.
  • Work in an uncontrolled environmental setting where temperatures can be extremely cold, hot or humid depending on the outside temperatures.
  • Work in an environment where there can be unexpected, sudden loud noises, beeping backup alarms, flashing lights and sudden movements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Class I Div II or hazardous work environments (preferred).
