About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining all machinery and equipment in working order while maintaining environmental and safety compliance. This includes mechanical and electrical components.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Experience in mechanical and electrical maintenance required (2 years minimum)
  • Ability to perform cutting, grinding and welding activities.
  • Willingness to learn the treating plant operation.
  • Knowledge of Bearings, Motors, Gear boxes, Hydraulic systems, Sprockets, Pumps, and Pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to identify worn parts and knowledge of how to replace them.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
  • Ability to be self-motivated to perform a task using his or her own drive or initiative.
  • Be comfortable working within Windows based programs, using a word processor, and email. Must have a good knowledge of spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all environmental and safety procedures are followed and report all unsafe or non-compliant activities.
  • Maintain mechanical equipment to remain operational including chemical transfer pumps, vacuum pumps, valves, conveyors, hydraulic units, burners, mobile equipment, etc.
  • Maintain electrical equipment to remain operational including breaker boxes, power supplies, sensors, and lighting, etc.
  • Complete work orders for issues with equipment.
  • Prompt response to operational downtime.
  • Maintain and follow preventative maintenance programs with accurate record keeping.
  • Install new equipment including running new electrical wire and/or piping as directed. Working with motors, pumps, bearings, and chains.
  • Keep the shop area clean and compliant with all safety programs.
  • Troubleshoot operational problems and work with engineers as directed.
  • Proactively detect, diagnose and repair potential issues using PM and inspection tools.
  • Attend all training sessions and safety meetings.
  • Computer duties as necessary.
  • Other duties as directed.
