About The Position

Under little supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in manual labor involving physically demanding unskilled and limited semi-skilled tasks. Works as a member of a maintenance crew doing such jobs as but not limited to: Work in dusty, hot and cold conditions laying asphalt, patching potholes, chip seal, crack seal, sign installation, curb painting, flagging, jack hammer and concrete work.

Requirements

  • Some knowledge of tools used in maintenance and construction
  • Some knowledge of the precautions necessary to work safely with and around mechanized equipment
  • Some skill in using standard tools, supplies and materials common in manual labor tasks
  • Some skill in understanding and carrying out verbal instructions
  • Training equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade desirable but not mandatory
  • Must be able to work under all weather conditions
  • Maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which may include the following: lifting heavy objects, climbing in and out of equipment or trenches approximately 10 feet in height, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking or standing for extended periods of time, talking, hearing, and operating assigned equipment
  • Successful applicant must pass background check
  • Driver license report (MVR) will be obtained by the Human Resources division if applicable
