Job responsibilities: Maintenance Workers are responsible for performing repairs and maintenance of structures, electrical systems, plumbing, washers and dryers, heating and ventilation and air conditioning systems in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA) standards, Management & Training Corporation (MTC), Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) and Florida Department of Management Services (DMS) directives. Essential Functions: Perform maintenance and repair structures, electrical systems, and heating, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning and drainage systems; recommend contracted assistance when on-site repair is not possible. Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses as directed. Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork. Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc. Perform repair or replacement of plumbing, fixtures, washers, seals, etc. Help prepare surfaces for finishing, i.e. painting as directed. Direct inmates assigned to department. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical training and two (2) years related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency required.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
