About The Position

San Francisco Giants Baseball Club LLC has an opening for Major League Assistant Athletic Trainer in San Francisco, CA. DUTIES: Provide athletic training services and sports medicine care for all players and staff members of San Francisco Giants during the season and off-season. Understand and implement a holistic approach to injury prevention and injury rehabilitation. Implement injury evaluation, injury management, rehabilitation/treatment interventions based on current research and best standards of care. Communicate with front office/coaching staff as it pertains to medical decision making and current health status of Giants on field personnel. Communicate between Giants team physicians/outside specialists and Giants front office. Communicate medical decisions/procedures with Major League medical staff. Coordinate and assist medical appointments (surgical procedures, diagnostics, labs, physical therapy, etc). Assist/coordinate entrance physicals of Spring Training and exit physical. Communicate and collaborate with strength and conditioning/PT/sports science staff to implement preventative and rehabilitative protocols. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the EMR of all information regarding the health of Giants players as outlined by the basic minimum standards established by MLB. Complete inventory and supply ordering for athletic training facilities of San Francisco Giants. Maintain a clean and well-organized athletic training/strength and conditioning facility. 50% travel in the United States.

Requirements

  • Required a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in athletic training, sports medicine, kinesiology or related field and 60 months of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or related role.
  • Working as BOC Certified Athletic Trainer including preventing and treating injuries, using therapeutic modality, coordinating athlete’s rehabilitation programs, maintaining and improving athlete’s health/condition, and communicating with front-office, doctors and baseball operation
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Professional baseball athletic trainer experience including in-season supervision of prevention care and treatment of injuries and illness to baseball players and following up to track strength and conditioning and mental conditioning
  • Presenting at sports medicine conferences about topics of baseball injury prevention and treatment, and schools about athletic training certification
  • Manual therapy: active release technique, visceral manipulation, craniosacral therapy, neuromeningeal manipulation
