About The Position

As a Major Projects Project Manager, you will develop, estimate, sell, and manage multiple fast-track mechanical construction projects. You will be responsible for communication, negotiation, scheduling, cost tracking, document control, and forecasting profitability. It is a key role that involves generating business plans, supporting business development efforts, and expanding the revenue base. You will also mentor and supervise Project Engineers and Coordinators while collaborating with superintendents, foremen, engineers, and detailers to deliver profitable, high-quality projects.

  • 5+ years as a Mechanical Project Manager.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Construction Management or Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical preferred).
  • 3+ years managing PMs and PEs.
  • Basic HVAC and plumbing knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and take ownership of estimates, project scoping, proposals, safety, and execution while meeting or exceeding department profitability goals.
  • Perform mechanical systems costing and value analysis.
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure complete designs with clearly defined scope aligned to project budgets.
  • Support and collaborate with the business development team to secure new work.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Review estimates prepared by direct reports and establish project budgets.
  • Estimate, negotiate, and manage change orders.
  • Track, forecast, and report labor hours and material costs.
  • Manage buyout of major equipment and subcontractors.
  • Expedite and track delivery of major equipment and materials.
  • Maintain working knowledge of contract general conditions, scope, and specifications.
  • Ensure document control and contractual compliance.
  • Coordinate with field supervision to plan, organize, and schedule work, including preparation of integrated project schedules.
  • Review contract drawings, detail drawings, and specifications.
  • Prepare fabrication shop work packages, including detail review, material take-offs, buyouts, and fabrication labor budgeting.
  • Provide proactive, clear, and timely communication to internal teams.
