About The Position

The Hunt Valley Making Department is responsible for pre-weighing and making all bulk that goes into brands such as Covergirl, Rimmel, Max Factor, Sally Hansen and Philosophy. We seek a Making Technician to be responsible for the mixing of batches needed to produce our coveted brands. The Making Technician will report primarily to the Making area manager along with several technicians ensuring product is made safely and with good quality. Key stakeholders include the Quality technicians evaluating the batches and the Production technicians filling and packaging the product. Working for Coty means our people make us who we are. Requirements

  • HS diploma required, Associates degree in related field a plus
  • Be able to demonstrate basic computer skills
  • Be able to lift 25 kilograms / 55 pounds, lift hoses, bolt flanges and operate valves and similar equipment routinely without assistance
  • Be able to climb ladders/ stairs and work at heights
  • Perform basic math and be able to use calculator
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to work well in teams; good interpersonal skills
  • Have great attention to detail – be able to calculate grams and kgs
  • We are a 3-shift operation, must have ability to support shift as assigned including weekends and holidays and work overtime when needed

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Weighing and Making / Blending experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to trouble-shoot issues in weighing materials
  • Previous experience with SAP, Excel, Word & Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Maintain adherence to Safety, Quality and Operations processes and procedures
  • Read, understand and follow all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Operating designated Making Equipment (600-15-gallon vessels)
  • Pre-weighing raw materials to stage them for Making vessels to complete batches
  • Optimizing plant performance by monitoring making equipment and conditions using making controls and making information systems including temperature checks, mixing speeds, viscosity, pH and color characteristics of batches
  • Collecting, calculating and reporting plant measurements related to performance, asset utilization, quality and batch yields
  • Determine root causes of deviations in making process, product or equipment performance through use of troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Perform basic making equipment troubleshooting, routine equipment repairs or CILs, improvements and preventative maintenance
  • Perform daily tasks efficiently using appropriate computer tools and software
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and makes improvements when appropriate
  • Ensure operational activities and making performance are aligned with plant and business goals
