POSITION SUMMARY: The Mammography Technologist II performs technical activities associated with screening and diagnostic mammography procedures to obtain high quality images of the breasts. They assist radiologists in diagnostic procedures to evaluate and diagnose physiological changes in breast patterns and serve as an integral part of providing an exceptional patient care experience.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • ARRT certification in radiography
  • ARRT advanced certification in mammography must be obtained within 1 year of hire
  • BLS CPR certification
  • 1-3 years of Mammography experience
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to read and interpret medical reports, extract pertinent information from them and present that information in a concise and appropriate manner
  • Anatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathology
  • Knowledge of radiographic technique and positioningKnowledge of ultrasound principals, application, and positioning
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent customer service, both internal and external
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Diagnostic Training experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocols
  • Position patients, using immobilization when necessary
  • Evaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as needed
  • Evaluate and present images to radiologists and perform additional post presentation images and/or diagnostic procedures, including ultrasound, core biopsy, and needle localization
  • Prepare exam/procedure rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical supplies
  • Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits and procedures, including patient clinical history, prior imaging, orders, lab work, and authorization confirmation
  • Identify care requirements relative to each patient’s age-specific needs
  • Explain exams and procedures to patients
  • Provide post procedural care information and follow up instructions as directed radiologists
  • Use radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff
  • Assist with onboarding and training new Mammography Technician I’s and II’s
  • Other duties as assigned
