Work Shift Various (United States of America) Job Summary Wellstar Cobb Breast and X‑Ray Center are seeking a PT Day Outpatient Registered Mammographer Technologist. The days and hours for the position are Friday 6:30am – 7:00pm and Saturday 7:30am – 4:00pm. This position will receive a competitive Sign‑On Bonus. Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age‑appropriate care by performing all exams according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up equipment to provide imaging service and positions patients for procedures. Must maintain minimum FDA/MQSA requirements for continuing education, experience and equipment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA‑approved School of Radiology Technology — Required
  • Currently ARRT registered — Required
  • ARRT Mammography
  • ARRT Radiography
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Rad Tech — Required
  • Must exhibit excellent communication skills due to frequent interaction with physicians, patients, visitors, staff and nursing teams.
  • Routinely obtains, presents and discusses clinical information regarding job responsibilities.
  • Able to explain or give directions to maintain goodwill and obtain cooperation.
  • Must function independently and under pressure while actively participating as a team member.
  • Must consistently demonstrate excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique to ensure the best study possible while maintaining image quality.
  • Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider for timely correction.
  • Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment under infection control policy and department cleaning schedule.
  • Safely and competently operates all radiographic equipment; ensures equipment is not abused and remains in good working condition.
  • Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
  • Ensures all studies have correct patient identification and appropriate right/left markers.
  • Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
  • Responds to emergency situations.
  • Uses critical thinking skills.
  • Seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
  • Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed.
  • Observes patient condition and evaluates situations requiring physician intervention.
  • Verifies two unique patient identifiers per policy and verifies proper clinician order prior to procedure.
  • Ensures patient privacy and comfort.
  • Demonstrates competence in applying appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies and techniques based on patient age.
  • Understands, demonstrates and documents Pre‑Procedure Verification and Time‑Out process when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates and understands pre‑ and post‑procedural care when applicable.
  • Demonstrates and understands sterile technique when applicable.
  • Organizes schedule, time and priorities to complete required activities within designated time frames.
  • Follows physicians’ instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
  • Practices RBAC (Read Back and Confirm) when taking verbal orders.
  • Patiently and clearly explains exam purpose and nature using AIDET to minimize anxiety and promote cooperation.
  • Ensures patient questions, concerns or contraindications are addressed before the procedure; notifies physician when unresolved.
  • Participates in orientation and training of departmental employees.
  • Provides preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures.
  • Documentation is concise, legible and uses precise terminology.
  • Reads email daily and follows through with assignments.
  • Completes mandatory departmental and hospital‑wide education without prompting.
  • Produces acceptable images with a first‑time acceptance rate of 95%.
  • Ensures equipment is fully operational before each use by checking calibration and operating deficiencies.
  • Completes all studies in RIS; ensures images are oriented, marked, labeled and notated correctly before sending to PACS; prints CDs as needed.
  • Digitizes comparative studies when necessary and completes preliminary sheets when applicable.
  • Maintains documentation required to meet ACR Accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in completing and documenting ACR/MQSA QC tests including Phantom, Visual Checklist, Repeat Analysis, Compression Pressure, Compression Thickness, Flat Field Test, Calibration and DICOM Printer Test.
  • Restocks linens and supplies and maintains Mammography Department in clean and orderly condition.
  • Transports and positions patients and assists them on and off the procedure table.
  • Performs patient charging activities on the day services are rendered.
  • Applies shielding.
  • Prepares and maintains patient follow‑up data.
  • Willingly provides knowledge and assistance to others as needed and as time allows.
  • Performs clerical and support duties to ensure continuity and quality of services.
  • Keeps supervisor informed and promptly reports problems or potential concerns.
  • Maintains individual productivity equal to other coworkers.
  • Familiar with Mammography Tracking System.
  • Maintains Joint Commission and regulatory standards.
  • Familiar with FDA/MQSA EQUIP program.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
