The Mammography Technologist will be responsible for producing quality images and providing patient care in the UAMS Breast Center. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Graduation from an approved Radiology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Mammography
  • Licensed by the State of Arkansas in Radiology

Responsibilities

  • Operates specialized radiologic equipment to perform high-quality breast imaging exams, including mammography and breast ultrasounds.
  • Maintains an adequate level of supplies and keeps the workspace clean.
  • Communicates mammography exam procedures to patients and enlists patient cooperation in positioning for radiological examination.
  • Provides patient education regarding mammography and breast health.
  • Assists with records management and scheduling appointments.
  • Obtains patient history and enters into Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Schedules exams and reviews previous records to determine correct studies are performed.
  • Ensures exams are completed, and images are in Picture Archiving and Communication (PACS) systems.
  • Enrolls patients in BreastCare Program as appropriate.
  • Maintains knowledge of breast procedures, including ultrasound biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, MRI-guided biopsy, and needle localizations through continuing education and professional development.
  • Completes other duties as requested.
