About The Position

University of Utah Health and the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (formerly the University Neuropsychiatric Institute) are seeking a new Behavioral Sciences Program Manager (with 4+ years of leadership experience, and current licensure and experience as an LCSW or Psychologist in the State of Utah) for our Youth Residential Treatment program in South Salt Lake! EO/AA Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director the Behavioral Sciences Manager will coordinate behavioral health programs within department. This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling all aspects of the assigned department's internal and external customer service, as well as the human resource and financial management operations. The incumbent acts as a catalyst between the department and its customers, and staff, to ensure continuity and quality of service and care. HMHI Youth Residential Treatment provides 24-hour clinical care for adolescent females ages 12–17 who need a safe, structured, and secure setting for mental health treatment. We specialize in supporting teens experiencing depression and mood instability, running-away behaviors, substance use, self-harm, anxiety and avoidance, low self-image, and suicidal thoughts or attempts. Our multidisciplinary team, including nursing, psychiatry, psychology, social work, education, music and recreation therapy, and psychiatric technicians, collaborates to create individualized treatment plans. Daily programming, ongoing skills coaching and interventions are informed by Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles. We also offer two weekly DBT multi-family/teen groups to help parents learn and apply the same skills alongside their teens for use at home. Ideal candidates have strong clinical skills, experience working with adolescents and families, a background in multidisciplinary teams, and expertise in milieu management and interventions. Scope of responsibility includes: • Administrative and clinical oversite of a 16 bed adolescent, female residential program (ages 13-17)• Ensures compliance with Department of Human Services licensure• Ensure compliance with CARF Accreditation• Review all incoming referrals to determine clinical appropriateness for admission• Coordinate of admits and triage • Manage day to day operations including employee issues, safety, building and property integrity, crisis response and adherence to policy and procedures, coordination of training for all employees • Posting, interviewing, hiring and management of all employees • Oversee unit staffing schedule to ensure patient to staff ratio is met• Work closely with the University Academy educators to ensure clients’ education needs are being met. • Coverage for the clinical and administrative assistant when on vacation• Facilitate/co-facilitate bi-weekly clinical groups • Facilitate weekly staff meeting and rounds• Participation in DBT Consult group and education/supervision of staff to ensure adherence to DBT principles Supervision and oversight of 21 employees: • 1 Psychology Post-Doctoral Resident• 2 Psychologists• 1 Registered Nurse• 1 Education Specialist • 15 psych technicians and additional PRN psych techs• 1 EVS employee• 1 Patient Relations Specialist

Requirements

  • Three years of more progressively responsible management experience.
  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah.
  • Current licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Utah.
  • Current registration as an Art Therapist (ATR) with the American Art Therapy Association.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Master Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (MTRS) in the State of Utah.
  • Current license to practice as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the State of Utah.
  • Current Music Therapy certification through the Certification Board for Music Therapy (MT-BC)
  • Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees, and processes, in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates, to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
  • Knowledge of assigned department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan, and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors.
