About The Position

The Variable Compensation Manager serves as the strategic owner of the US and Americas region incentive compensation programs, ensuring that all variable pay structures drive performance, align with business objectives, and operate with accuracy, transparency, and compliance. This role oversees the end‑to‑end lifecycle of incentive compensation — from plan design and modeling to system governance, monthly operations, reporting, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical expertise, deep experience with Varicent ICM, and the leadership presence to partner with senior executives across Sales Operations, Sales, Finance, and HR. This individual will guide compensation strategy, lead cross‑functional initiatives, and mentor team members while ensuring a world-class compensation experience for the sales organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5+ years of experience in incentive compensation, sales operations, financial analysis, or related roles
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Experience in usings applications to process incentive compensation
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team to meet organizational objectives and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, & PowerPoint, and the use of sales data reporting tools.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships at all levels within the organization
  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

  • Advanced degree in Business, Analytics, or a related field.
  • 4-5 years sales operations experience within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device industry

Responsibilities

  • Manage the US and Americas Region incentive compensation program, including plan design, documentation, modeling, and annual planning cycles.
  • Serve as the enterprise subject‑matter expert for Varicent ICM, ensuring system accuracy, governance, and optimization across all global compensation plans.
  • Establish and enforce compensation policies, controls, and audit processes to ensure compliance, transparency, and risk mitigation.
  • Lead cross‑functional alignment with Sales Operations, Sales, Finance, and HR to ensure incentive programs support business strategy and organizational goals.
  • Partner with senior leadership to design and refine incentive compensation plans that drive desired behaviors and align with revenue objectives.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to evaluate plan effectiveness and forecast compensation expense.
  • Create and maintain performance dashboards and executive‑level reporting to provide insights into attainment, productivity, and compensation trends.
  • Oversee monthly commission processing, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of payments.
  • Network externally to stay informed and recommend strategy enhancements to the Varicent application
  • Lead system configuration, testing, and deployment of new plans and enhancements within Varicent, including workflow automation and reporting improvements.
  • Manage data integrity by partnering with IT, HR and Sales Operations to track personnel changes, territory updates, and organizational movements.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation for all compensation‑related workflows, controls, and system configurations.
