As a manager on the Global Communications team, you will play a critical role in safeguarding and strengthening Starbucks’ reputation during moments that matter most. You will help lead integrated, high‑impact communications—particularly across digital and social platforms—with a focus on issues management, crisis response, and brand reputation protection. This is a fast‑paced, highly visible role for a communications leader who thrives under pressure, brings sound judgment to complex situations, and knows how to translate strategy into clear, decisive action. You are both a skilled social media strategist and a strong storyteller, able to shape narratives, manage risk, and build trust with stakeholders inside and outside the company. This person will need to be experienced and enjoys engaging with reporters, editors, platform and channel owners, partners (employees) and key stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Experience (5+ years) driving proactive narratives on corporate, campaign, advocacy-based or agency communications teams.
  • Proven media relations and writing capabilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing reputation online and in the digital eco-system.
  • An understanding of reputation-driven communications.
  • The ability to influence, inspire and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Drive digital and social communications strategy for issues and crises, ensuring Starbucks’ voice is timely, consistent, and aligned with our values across all channels.
  • Serve as day‑to‑day support for issues and crisis communications, coordinating cross‑functional teams and guiding response from identification through resolution.
  • Develop and execute integrated communications plans and campaigns that protect and elevate brand trust across owned, earned, and paid media.
  • Monitor, assess, and respond to emerging risks and issues across social, digital, and media landscapes, recommending proactive or corrective actions.
  • Provide real‑time strategic counsel and risk guidance to senior leaders and cross‑functional partners during high‑pressure, rapidly evolving situations.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
  • For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
