Learn more at https://www.jnj.com/medtech The Surgery team at J&J MedTech develops innovative surgical technologies and solutions across specialties including metabolic disease, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. We offer choice across surgical approaches, from sutures and sealing devices to robotics and digital solutions, with relentless focus on improving patient outcomes. The Manager, Customer Data Enablement will lead the strategy, assessment, integration, and operationalization of our customer and provider data across a diverse set of sources. This role will own and elevate our existing SOURCEVIEW™ capabilities and drive the cohesive use of third‑party datasets such as Vizient-Market-Pulse, Premier Surpass, GHX, and other market, claims, and provider‑network data. This role works across the commercial ecosystem, collaborating closely with Key Account Management (KAM), Field Sales, Deal Excellence, Customer Insights, Data Solutions, Marketing, Contract Management, and IT, as well as with external data providers such as Vizient, Premier, individual customers, GHX, claims and registry aggregators, and other technical partners to translate data into actionable commercial insights and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Data Science, Computer Science, Public Health, Health Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated ability leading customer/provider data platforms, third‑party healthcare datasets, or commercial analytics in the medtech or healthcare domain.
  • Experience leading data platform development or major redesign initiatives, including requirements gathering and translation into technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with data governance, privacy regulations, data-use agreements, and commercial compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating, procuring, and integrating internal and external datasets.
  • Collaboration and leadership skills; ability to influence in a highly cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts in business terms.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS) or equivalent experience.
  • Solid understanding of data transfer protocols (APIs, REST, JSON, XML, EDI standards, SFTP) and cloud-based data architectures.
  • Technical familiarity with SQL, cloud data platforms (Azure/AWS), ETL/ELT concepts, and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with MDM, identity resolution, and CRM data structures.
  • Prior experience with GPO, IDN, health system datasets, or healthcare supply chain data.

Responsibilities

  • Data Strategy & Stewardship Define and lead a unified customer data strategy covering SOURCEVIEW™, third‑party market and provider datasets, CRM, and transactional data. Establish standards for data ingestion, normalization, identity resolution, lineage, quality, access, and lifecycle management. Ensure all data activities follow privacy, security, and regulatory requirements.
  • Platform Development & Operationalization Develop and enhance multi‑source customer data products, including architecture, data model, UI/UX, ingestion flows, and integration logic. Translate business needs from commercial team members into use cases and functional requirements for engineering teams. Partner with engineering and data teams to design and operationalize new data pipelines, APIs, EDI ingestion workflows, SFTP transfers, and BI‑ready consumption layers.
  • Data Sourcing, Vendor Evaluation & Contract Management Evaluate, recommend, and maintain collaborative relationships with key data providers; lead RFPs, technical evaluations, and procurement activities. Assess data coverage, refresh cadence, interoperability, and commercial value to inform vendor selection.
  • Analytics, Insights & Commercial Impact Translate multi-source data into actionable insights that support sales strategy, segmentation, pricing, and account planning. Build and deliver benchmark dashboards, adoption metrics, voice of customer feedback loops, and executive business reviews that demonstrate the value of customer data investments. Identify trends, opportunities, and risks grounded in integrated customer datasets and provide clear, commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Enablement, Organizational Change & Adoption Champion the customer data ecosystem and deliver training, playbooks, and usage guidelines to support commercial teams. Drive adoption through targeted team member engagement and continuous performance tracking.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Influence Act as the primary liaison between Commercial teams and Data Solutions/IT for platform roadmap prioritization, feasibility assessment, and delivery sequencing. Facilitate workshops to define business rules, matching logic, customer hierarchy structures, and integration with CRM/MDM. Influence senior collaborators and cross-functional partners without direct authority.
