Requirements

  • Working knowledge of analytical data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional, domain-oriented models) and how data structures support reporting, analytics, and downstream data consumers.
  • Strong understanding of modern data lake and warehouse architectures, ETL/ELT pipelines, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Experience designing, building, or operating data solutions in a public cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), with awareness of scalability, security, and cost considerations.
  • Experience with large-scale data pipelines and workflow orchestration in production environments.
  • Working knowledge of data quality, security, and governance practices and how they are applied within engineering teams.
  • Experience supporting production data systems, including monitoring, incident response, and issue resolution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working with product managers, analytics teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and developing data engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, coaching, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
  • Ability to lead team-level change initiatives and support adoption of new tools, processes, and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Translate organizational data strategy into execution plans; contribute to roadmap development and manage team-level priorities and budgets.
  • Ensure timely delivery of data lakes, warehouses, and streaming solutions that meet performance, security, and reliability standards.
  • Hire, coach, mentor, and develop data engineering teams; foster a collaborative and data-driven team culture.
  • Ensure consistent application of data governance, quality, and security frameworks across owned teams.
  • Partner with product managers, analytics leaders, and business stakeholders to align requirements and manage expectations.
  • Evaluate new tools and techniques within team scope and recommend improvements to platforms and processes.
  • Ensure operational stability of owned platforms; oversee incident response and remediation.
  • Manage team-level budgets and cloud usage; support vendor interactions.
  • Track KPIs related to delivery, reliability, and quality; manage risks within assigned scope.
