The Manager, Data Governance is responsible for helping establish and operate a data governance program that ensures Enterprise Finance data is accurate, available, secure, and consistently understood across teams and systems. This role partners with Finance stakeholders and technology/data teams to define governance policies, support stewardship and ownership models, drive data quality improvement, and increase trust and adoption of governed data assets. Reporting into the Director, Data & AI Strategy & Governance, this role operates cross‑functionally and helps connect governance standards with day‑to‑day data usage, analytics, and reporting needs.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, information governance, or related roles in a complex enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrated experience creating or operating governance processes (policies/standards, stewardship models, issue management, governance reporting).
  • Experience partnering across business and technical teams and influencing without direct authority.
  • Strong communication and change leadership skills, including the ability to make governance easy to understand and adopt.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with metadata and cataloging concepts (business glossary, catalog, lineage) and how they enable consistent reporting and trusted analytics.
  • Experience working in regulated or control‑oriented domains where governance and auditability are important.
  • Exposure to common governance tooling (catalog/metadata platforms) and workflows that support policy enforcement and monitoring.
  • Advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Data Governance Program Operations Support the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of a formal data governance program, including policies, standards, and repeatable processes for managing data across its lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain governance routines (working sessions, decision forums, issue triage, and reporting) that drive adoption and measurable maturity improvements.
  • Provide clear documentation of governance artifacts (policies, standards, guidance, and decision records) to support transparency and consistency.
  • Data Ownership, Stewardship, and Standards Help define and operationalize data ownership and stewardship roles, including responsibilities and escalation paths, so data is actively managed rather than passively maintained.
  • Drive alignment on standard definitions (business terms, metrics, and core concepts) to reduce inconsistency across reporting and analytics.
  • Partner with business and technical stakeholders to ensure governance standards are practical, adoptable, and aligned to business outcomes.
  • Data Quality Management & Issue Resolution Establish and monitor data quality expectations and metrics (e.g., completeness, accuracy, timeliness) and drive resolution of data issues through root-cause identification and remediation plans.
  • Coordinate issue intake, prioritization, tracking, and closure, ensuring repeatable remediation and reduced recurrence over time.
  • Provide regular reporting on data quality trends, policy adherence, and governance exceptions to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Metadata, Cataloging, and Data Lineage Promote and support metadata practices (cataloging, documentation, and lineage) that improve discoverability, traceability, and consistent use of data assets.
  • Partner with platform/tool owners to ensure the organization maintains a usable catalog of data assets and business definitions that can be found and understood by intended consumers.
  • Data Access, Privacy, and Compliance (in partnership with enterprise teams) Work with Information Security, Privacy, Risk, and Compliance partners to ensure governance expectations align with enterprise policies for appropriate access, secure usage, and regulatory compliance.
  • Help ensure governance includes practical controls and auditable processes for sensitive data handling, retention considerations, and policy compliance.
