About The Position

The Hospital Gift Shop Manager is responsible for day to day operations at multiple locations and campuses for Mayo Clinic. Has full profit/loss and supervisory responsibility for two hospital gift shops with combined revenue totaling nearly $2 million dollars annually. Prepares, develops and oversees $900,000 operating budget. Monitors all financial reports and uses information to maximize sales and profits. Optimizes area productivity, resolves service problems, develops and maintains policies and procedures. Responsible for monitoring product trends, selection, and determining merchandise pricing. Strategically devises marketing strategies and annual promotions. Supervises employees/volunteers/buyers and job functions including staffing, coaching and development. Possesses strong business acumen, customer service and interpersonal skills. Partners with clinical areas, security, and external vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting or a related field or five years retail management experience
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in accounting, retail operations and supervision required
  • Must have strong technology skills, and proficiency using point of sales (POS) systems, volunteer management software, social media platforms, web applications and security systems
  • Experience with creating and maintaining social media platforms as retail marketing tools
  • Must possess leadership ability, problem solving, continuous improvement, project management and team building skills
  • Must have strong communication and presentation abilities
  • Exceptional customer service skills are required
