About The Position

As Manager, Internal Communications, you will lead the Internal Communications Content Team in creating meaningful, memorable and actionable enterprise-wide communications that inform and engage associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
  • 6+ years of experience in Communications, Journalism or Marketing
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to multitask without sacrificing detail
  • Effective prioritization and decision-making skills
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience writing, proofreading and editing communications focused on AP Style
  • 2+ years of experience managing a high-performing team
  • Solution-oriented problem solver
  • Experience using PC and Macintosh environments

Responsibilities

  • Play a central role in advancing Kohl’s culture by developing communications that reinforce desired behaviors, values and ways of working across the enterprise
  • Partner closely with Culture, HR and People teams to bring associate-focused initiatives to life, including change communications, operational communications, engagement programs and leader-led moments
  • Develop communication strategies and content that inspire, equip and activate people leaders at all levels to effectively lead teams through change
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to multiple senior executives, creating compelling internal content across channels, leadership events and engagement campaigns, as well as ghost-writing emails and town hall talking points and scripts.
  • Lead associate engagement storytelling by identifying, shaping and amplifying narratives that reflect Kohl’s evolving culture and associate experience
  • Translate complex or sensitive people-related topics into clear, authentic and motivating communications that resonate with diverse associate audiences
  • Oversee the internal communications content calendar, with an enterprise-wide focus, to ensure associates are informed on key business initiatives
  • Build, develop and grow business relationships with partners across the organization, fostering support for internal communication strategies and staying in the know on associate sentiment and company initiatives
  • Develop a team through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans
