The Job: The Inventory Control & Quality Manager is responsible for leading inventory control, quality assurance, value-added services, and damages operations within a high-volume, 1.2 million square foot distribution center. This role ensures operational excellence, process alignment, and continuous improvement across all managed departments, fostering a culture of integrity, safety, ownership, and performance. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong agency, proactively takes responsibility for their areas, and drives results through decisive action and accountability.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in Inventory Control, Quality Assurance/ISO, and warehouse/distribution operations, preferably in a high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing $200 million or more in inventory and overseeing at least 7,000 SKUs.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related discipline.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of warehousing operations, including order processing, receiving, special handling, and VAS.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), WMS, SAP, and other inventory management systems.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching skills; proven ability to supervise flexible shifts and schedules.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; able to interact at all levels within the organization.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to gather, interpret, and act on complex data sets.
  • Knowledge of logistics, production planning concepts, and root cause analysis for damages and discrepancies.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and drive initiatives and accountability.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with regulatory compliance, including ISO and OSHA standards, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Direct daily operations and workflow for Inventory Control, Quality Assurance, VAS, and Damages teams, ensuring optimal resource allocation and productivity.
  • Oversee inventory management processes including cycle counts, physical inventory audits, discrepancy resolution, and inventory synchronization.
  • Lead implementation and compliance of quality systems (including ISO 9001), ensuring standards are met throughout warehouse operations.
  • Manage VAS operations, ensuring timely and accurate execution of customized services for customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Oversee damages process, including root cause analysis, corrective actions, and regular damage audits.
  • Develop and refine methods for effective inventory movement, product slotting, and order fulfillment to maximize efficiency and minimize errors.
  • Oversee the profiling team, which is responsible for product slotting and optimization, to ensure inventory is positioned for maximum operational efficiency.
  • Mentor and engage supervisors and hourly associates, promoting a culture of quality, safety, continuous improvement, and ownership through training, presentations, and team initiatives.
  • Demonstrate strong agency and ownership by proactively identifying opportunities for improvement, taking responsibility for outcomes, and driving initiatives to completion.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to sustain daily, weekly, and monthly improvement efforts.
  • Provide support to inbound, outbound, and testing teams to ensure material and product quality.
  • Maintain business ethics and integrity in line with corporate guidelines.
  • Compile, store, and retrieve data for reporting and analysis; update spreadsheets and communicate regularly with network management.
  • Utilize systems (e.g., UKG, WMS, SAP) to track employee attendance, PTO, and performance.
  • Monitor and assess key productivity indicators, including financial, service level, and performance objectives, to control costs and support business goals.
  • Coach and mentor team members on best practices, continuous improvement tools, and compliance requirements.
