About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead and develop our engineering team in a high mix, low volume precision manufacturing environment. This role combines technical leadership with direct shop-floor involvement in CNC machining, precision grinding, and assembly operations.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience in CNC machining, precision grinding, and mechanical assembly.
  • Proven leadership skills, including team development, performance management, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Deep knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze processes, implement improvements, and solve complex technical problems.
  • Strong communication skills and business acumen to partner effectively across the organization.
  • BS degree with engineering emphasis required; MS degree in engineering (preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience working directly with manufacturing processes (build to print and new product development) and successfully leading a Manufacturing Engineering function within a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience leading teams of engineers in a continuous improvement environment.
  • 2+ years demonstrated hands-on expertise with CNC, Assembly and/or Grinding processes.
  • This position may require access to ITAR-controlled technical data and services. As such, all applicants must be U.S. persons, as defined by ITAR, to be considered for this role. Nice To Haves

  • Black/Green Belt or Lean Certification a plus.
  • Knowledge of magnetic materials and applications in a high mix/low volume manufacturing environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the Manufacturing Engineering team, driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide hands-on support for CNC machining, grinding, and assembly; troubleshoot complex manufacturing issues and implement solutions.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize manufacturing processes to ensure repeatability, quality, and compliance.
  • Champion Lean and Six Sigma initiatives to eliminate waste, improve quality, reduce variation, and enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Design and optimize lean manufacturing cells, workflows, and facility layouts for maximum efficiency.
  • Oversee supplier and subcontractor performance to meet specifications, quality, and process requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to support NPI, process readiness, and operational excellence.
