About The Position

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking experienced Managers of Manufacturing Operations & Assembly to lead teams dedicated to advancing human spaceflight through innovative manufacturing and assembly solutions. In these key roles, you will oversee production and execution of manufacturing operations—including process optimization, work instruction generation, resource allocation, and efficient workflow configuration. You will work collaboratively within integrated product teams and partner closely with engineering, quality, tooling, logistics, supply chain, operations, and project management to deliver high-quality hardware on aggressive timelines. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational and technical acumen, passionate about driving continuous improvement and fostering high-performing teams in a fast-paced, dynamic aerospace environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Military, or related field from an accredited university.
  • 8+ years of manufacturing experience (or, for ops-focused roles: 5+ years individual contributor plus 1+ years people leadership).
  • Experience with design for manufacturability/integration, configuration management, and risk management processes.
  • Hands-on expertise in hardware manufacturing and assembly for aerospace applications.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) or transition to production.
  • Proven ability to build effective, trust-based relationships that drive team and business success.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Digital literacy with MS Office, Project, Visio, Jira, Confluence (or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with quality and safety standards (AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Physical ability to lift 50lbs and work at heights/confined spaces; flexibility to work required shifts and extended hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in engineering, business, or project management.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt preferred).
  • PMP certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • Manufacturing engineering experience in aerospace/high-reliability industries, human-rated vehicles, or hazardous operations.
  • Advanced manufacturing technology/tools (CAD, ERP/PLM/MRP).
  • Deep understanding of fabrication processes: machining, welding, composites, assembly.
  • Experience with BOM management, digital work instructions, and regulatory requirements (NASA, AS9100/ISO 9001).
  • Experience supporting IPTs and Interface Control Models (ICMs).
  • Strong aptitude for project management and team building.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and manage teams of technicians and/or engineers across production, integration, and assembly of lunar vehicle hardware and subcomponents.
  • Build positive team culture, encourage open knowledge sharing, and provide guidance for continuous growth.
  • Guide manufacturing development and process optimization including build & flow and production planning to meet aggressive delivery schedules.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations functions to address manufacturing challenges and strategic objectives.
  • Champion and drive continuous improvement initiatives to elevate process efficiency, safety, and product quality.
  • Monitor production and operational performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide regular updates to senior management to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
  • Manage budget and resource allocation for manufacturing activities, including new product introductions and scaling production capabilities.
