About The Position

The Manager, Medical Staff Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Medical Staff Services Department under the general supervision of the Director. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards, manages departmental resources, and supports the credentialing and privileging processes. The Manager provides leadership, training, and quality oversight to staff, and serves as a liaison between Medical Staff leadership and hospital administration. The position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate documentation, facilitating committee processes, and supporting the strategic goals of the hospital and medical staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 5 Years of Provider Credentialing experience.
  • Knowledge of medical/legal issues and experience in development of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, required.
  • General experience and knowledge of Joint Commission standards.
  • Ability to work with different personalities and to maintain emotional stability and calm disposition with the ability to relate positively to all levels of professionals.
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) with the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) with the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the workflow and productivity of the Medical Staff Services Department, ensuring alignment with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with internal standards and external regulatory/accreditation requirements.
  • Interview, hire, assign work, and evaluate performance of credentialing and support personnel.
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of data within the credentialing system.
  • Provide guidance and documentation support for medical staff committees, including standing, ad hoc, and special meetings.
  • Assist in coordinating hearings and appeals, interacting with legal counsel and medical staff representatives.
  • Collect and prepare documentation for regulatory audits and actively participate in audit processes.
  • Serve as a consultative resource to medical staff leaders, supporting strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Represent the department in monthly hospital leadership meetings and contribute to organizational planning.
  • Take ownership of assigned business operations initiatives and departmental improvement efforts.
