About The Position

The Manager of AI & Innovation is an integral part of Latham’s Legal Innovation team. This role will be responsible for leading the firm’s strategy and governance for legal technology platforms and vendor relationships that support legal service delivery, while leading and developing a team of Innovation Attorneys and/or product owners responsible for designated legal technology platforms by providing strategic direction, performance oversight, coaching, and professional development. This role will be located in either our New York, Boston, or Washington, D.C. offices. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in law, business, information systems, or a related field, preferably
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience supporting legal technology and innovation
  • Previous management experience

  • Possess deep expertise in horizon scanning and market intelligence, with the ability to synthesise trends across legal technology and adjacent emerging technologies into portfolio strategy and investment priorities
  • Exhibit advanced product management leadership capabilities, including establishing standards for user persona development, user stories, scoping, requirements governance, roadmap planning, user interface and user experience (UI/UX) evaluation, and user testing across multiple platforms
  • Demonstrate strong portfolio and strategic programme management skills, including business case development, financial modelling, investment prioritisation, and return on investment (ROI) oversight at a multi‑platform level

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and overseeing product ownership standards and governance across assigned platforms, ensuring disciplined lifecycle management from discovery and piloting through launch, adoption, optimisation, and retirement, as appropriate
  • Defining and driving the portfolio vision, multi‑year roadmap, and success metrics for legal technology platforms by aligning investment decisions with firm strategy, artificial intelligence (AI) priorities, attorney needs, and operational objectives
  • Overseeing the translation of practice group and legal operations requirements into structured product requirements, user stories, and prioritisation frameworks to ensure consistency and strategic alignment across initiatives
  • Providing portfolio‑level decision‑making on scope, sequencing, resource allocation, and trade-offs by balancing user needs, technical feasibility, vendor capabilities, risk considerations, and long‑term strategic value
  • Establishing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), adoption metrics, and value realisation measures across platforms, using data‑driven insights to guide investment, iteration, scaling decisions, and vendor strategy
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
