Main responsibilities: The Payroll Accounting Department, located at the National Accounting Service Center in Phoenix, AZ, has an opening for Manager of Payroll Accounting. The primary function of this role will be to lead the Payroll Accounting team to successful reporting and reconciliation of payroll activities. Manage a multi-location team comprised of onshore and offshore team members Direct responsibility for onshore team and total department work effort, plus working with offshore team leader to ensure work productivity for offshore as part of the department work product Train, develop, motivate, and lead team members Identify areas of opportunity to enhance proficiency in departmental processes Perform account analysis and coordinate/recommend revisions/adjustments Oversee closing the accounting books in an accurate and timely manner Ensure reporting and processing deadlines are met Work closely with the payroll processing (HR) team to ensure cross-team best practices are put in place Act as first point of contact for payroll accounting inquiries Maintain compliance with appropriate internal controls and procedures Coordinate efforts with auditing firms related to internal/external audits and Sarbanes-Oxley Correspond with staff in other departments, division, corporate, stores, vendors and outside services to resolve issues Interview applicants and participate in the selection of team members Prepare performance appraisals and salary administration We are looking for candidates who possess the following: Four-year Business degree (preferably in Accounting). CPA or MBA preferred 4 years or more of experience in a lead/management or supervisory role preferred 5 years or more accounting experience in a large organization Experience in payroll accounting preferred Good theoretical and practical knowledge of GAAP preferred Oracle/PeopleSoft Payroll knowledge Oracle Financial knowledge Strong organizational and analytical skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines Advanced level PC skills with knowledge of databases, Windows and Microsoft Office products Strong leadership skills Strong personal development skills Excellent communication skills, both oral and written Must work well with others in a team environment and be able to interact with all levels of management Possess a high degree of initiative with the ability to work with minimal supervision Detail-oriented Honest and trustworthy, exhibiting sound business ethics We also provide a variety of benefits including: Competitive wages paid weekly Associate discounts Health and financial well-being benefits for eligible associates (Medical, Dental, 401k and more!)
