About The Position

EPIC Physical Security Systems Control Room Operator will: Control Room Operations: Coordinate with GSOC and Monitor alarms, events, and analytics; triage and dispatch per SOPs and runbooks. Maintain real-time situational awareness for EPIC and labs; escalate incidents to SecOps and GSOC. Track and log incidents, responses, and outcomes in approved platforms (e.g., ServiceNow/Resolver). Systems Operation & Administration (User/Operator Focus) Operate Access Control Systems (ACS): badge events, door/reader health, schedules, access levels (operator-level changes; admin by change control). Operate Video Management Systems (VMS): live monitoring, evidence export, analytics review (loitering, intrusion, tailgating). Use RTLS tools to support cleanroom/EPIC movement tracking; reconcile tracking gaps and data quality. Monitor perimeter technologies: smart lighting states, LPR camers, Video AI, turnstiles, etc. Operate visitor/contractor workflows, check-in/check-out compliance, badge provisioning coordination. Lab Entry Control technologies like metal detectors, X-Ray machines, facial recognition, tailgating alarms, etc. Alarm Monitoring & Incident Response Acknowledge alarms/events, verify via VMS/analytics, dispatch guard force, document actions. Apply dual-factor/MFA policies in high-IP zones (facial recognition + badge when applicable). Coordinate response to critical alarms (forced door, duress, tamper, system health), tailgating, loitering, intrusion attempts, etc. with GSOC and local SecOps. Training & Documentation: Maintain and update operator SOPs, quick guides, floor plans, and runbooks. Train guards/control room operators on system use, alarm triage, and evidence handling. Partner with business units, facilities, and Global Information Systems to understand operational needs and risk profiles. Address security vulnerabilities and protect critical IP, personnel, and assets at EPIC and labs. Serve as the strategic SME and advisor for physical security operations across the EPIC center and other lab business operations, aligning solutions with business priorities, standards, and site tiering models. Lead EPIC and lab cross-functional collaboration with regional Security Operations, local (PSSM) project management team, GIS/IT, LCO (legal), and GWI/Facilities to ensure cohesive deployment of security systems. Compliance, Privacy & EHS: Adhere to privacy policies for video/RTLS data; apply least-privilege access. Follow cleanroom protocols and EHS requirements in labs; coordinate safe access with Facilities. Partner with internal and external stakeholders like GIS PST, GWI, security technology vendors, local security integrators to ensure day-to-day operations and security systems are not interrupted. Review physical security system designs for EPIC and lab projects, ensuring compliance with Applied's Global Security Design and Scoping Standards. Engage with vendors and internal stakeholders to track end-to-end completion of EPIC and lab security controls. Support GSO site lab security audits/assessments regionally, identifying gaps in physical security systems and working with stakeholders from security operations and PSSM to remediate findings. Ensure all implemented systems meet regulatory, corporate, and industry standards for physical security and data protection.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree required; Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive experience in physical security management and security technology, GSOC or local SOC monitoring and response expertise, security alarms optimzation, response management and escalations, including general awareness about systems design, integration, and lifecycle management.
  • 5-10 years in a SOC/control room or enterprise physical security operations role.
  • Proven track record in operating and monitoring enterprise-level physical security systems, including IP-based video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and advanced analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with operating platforms such as CCURE and Avigilon, and familiarity with operating emerging technologies like AI-driven analytics, robotics, and security automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce security system operations include guard force expectations, supporting evidence needed for investigations, and security alarm response
  • Customer focused with deep operating, monitoring, and response expertise in physical security systems (ACS, VMS, IDS) and security operations. Alarm triage, clear communication/dispatch, incident documentation.
  • Cleanroom protocols and access interlocks (lab safety & contamination controls).
  • Strong business and physical security acumen to align security solutions with organizational objectives and risk profiles.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration skills, including working with IT, Facilities, and external partners.
  • Prioritization under pressure; 24/7 SOC discipline and handover quality.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Project and program management proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for senior management-level reporting and influencing.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Suite, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, and security design tools (e.g., SiteOwl, Avigilon, Axis, IPVM, CAD, etc.).
  • Ability to travel regionally up to 10%-20%.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certifications such as ASIS CPP, PSP, or relevant security technology user level certifications (e.g., CCURE, Avigilon) strongly preferred.
  • Semiconductor/cleanroom or high-IP lab environment experience strongly preferred.
