About The Position

The New York Philharmonic connects with millions of music lovers each season through live concerts in New York and around the world, as well as broadcasts, recordings, and education programs. After returning to a transformed David Geffen Hall in 2022, the Orchestra is acting on a renewed commitment to building on a legacy of more than 180 years, serving as a platform for today’s greatest musical artists and connecting with our communities. Gustavo Dudamel will become the Philharmonic’s Oscar L. Tang and H.M. Agnes Hsu-Tang Music and Artistic Director in the 2026–27 season. The New York Philharmonic is seeking a Manager, Planned Giving will help manage and grow the Heritage Society, the Philharmonic’s membership group to recognize individuals who have included the Orchestra in their charitable estate plans. This position will also regularly collaborate with the development team’s front-line fundraisers and program managers to further promote, solicit, and document bequest intentions.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of frontline experience.
  • Outstanding written and verbal skills with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience working in the performing arts, culture, or mission‑driven organizations.
  • Exceptional relationship‑building and creativity
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and attend concerts and events throughout the year.

Responsibilities

  • Working with the Director, Individual Giving to manage the Heritage Society program, including multi-channel strategies for acquisition, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Create membership and fundraising collateral including solicitation, acknowledgment, and stewardship materials and maintain inventory of printed materials.
  • Work collaboratively to support front-line fundraisers to increase estate commitments and gifts of IRA Rollovers, Donor Advised Funds, mutual funds, trusts, and other blended gifts.
  • Maintain a portfolio of 40-60 planned giving prospects and donors.
  • Serve as primary contact for trustees and estate attorneys, drafting correspondence to estate representatives to obtain regular updates as well as facilitate and acknowledge receipt of estate distributions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, tracking, reconciliation, and reporting on gift expectancies and actualized gifts.
  • Plan and manage Heritage Society events and estate planning seminars, in partnership with the Director, Individual Giving and Special Events team.
  • Serve as host of the Patron Lounge at select performances to steward Patrons, major donors, and Board members.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including fulfilling Heritage Society membership benefits, answering phone calls and emails, updating donor information in Tessitura database, generating reports, and maintaining records.
  • Regularly attend concerts and Donor Rehearsals to interact with donors; participate in membership events and special events.
  • Miscellaneous duties as required.
