Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited bachelor’s degree program in nursing
  • Currently registered nurse licensure in the state of employment
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • Computer Skills including Microsoft® Powerpoint, Word, Excel
  • Maintain minimum 10 contact hours units annually
  • Demonstrates experience with and skilled use of: Project management techniques or software to achieve results on time and within budget. Is outcome and results-oriented.
  • The basic tools of continuous improvement, work process redesign, or reengineering.
  • Descriptive statistics and a comprehensive understanding of the appropriate applications of interpretive statistics.
  • Organization and planning, managing multiple demands and achieving results.
  • Analytical reasoning, interprets and evaluates complex information while identifying patterns and essential issues.
  • Word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Team development and facilitation techniques applied to quality improvement or project teams to achieve their highest potential.
  • Superb written and oral communication skills with particular emphasis on presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a clinical resource for perioperative services staff members using evidence-based knowledge and prevailing standards.
  • Assist staff members in the evaluation of current practice through quality and process improvement measures.
  • Collaborate with other members of the health care team as required.
  • Provide educational resources and training for perioperative staff members.
  • Responsible for AAAHC and regulatory preparedness by collaborating with the Director of Quality and the Operatory Director to ensure the readiness of all staff and members of the operatory leadership team.
  • Reports and collaborates with the Director Quality: Surgical and procedural services regarding, quality plan, regulatory requirements, audits inspections.
  • Review and update the facility or healthcare organization’s perioperative QI program by conducting ongoing review of processes and considering potential process improvements.
  • Act as an internal consultant regarding perioperative services for all levels of the operatory facility using skills in facilitation, coaching, change management, and process improvement.
  • Report measurable QI outcomes to the Quality Committee.
  • Verify that perioperative QI initiatives are evidence-based and align with facility or healthcare organization policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines, and accreditation standards.
  • Facilitate coordinating the goals and efforts of the Quality Committee to those of the operatory facility.
  • Use conceptual and diagnostic skills to prioritize and manage perioperative QI projects in an effective manner.
  • Coach and facilitate implementation of prioritized perioperative QI initiatives to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Facilitate teamwork and communications to provide optimal outcomes in the provision of QI services to the facility or health care organization.
  • Act as a patient advocate and maintain the privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information
  • Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization.
  • Facilitates employees who lead or facilitate quality improvement activities, provide project management, data analysis and measurement of outcomes, document and report the results and accomplishments of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversees and monitors the development and implementation of the quality improvement program including the annual quality plan.
  • Performs under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals/objectives.
  • Works with the Director of Quality: surgical and procedure services, Director, Executive Director, and others to develop performance improvement targets for quality, service, and efficiency of the organization.
  • Provides leadership for implementing changes targeted at systems improvement.
  • Measures and evaluates attainment of results.
  • Assures that improvement activities are documented and reported within the organization and externally as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving, leadership, conflict management, and team-building skills in order to ensure a productive work environment and achievement of goals.
  • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
  • Possess and provide good customer service skills.
  • Use problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
  • Offer support to other procedural areas to promote collaboration and implement quality measures.
  • Compliant with all federal and state statutes including OSHA.
  • Compliant with all AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care) standards and AORN Perioperative Standards and Recommended Practices.
