About The Position

Reports to the warden. Responsible for the facility fire, safety and risk management programs in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma ad one (1) year experience in risk management related, loss control, worker’s compensation, occupational safety or related field, required.
  • Must successfully complete required pre service training.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage programs to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations.
  • Ensure adequate fire protection services are provided and available to the facility.
  • Perform, arrange and coordinate fire inspections and testing of equipment on a frequent, scheduled basis.
  • Arrange and coordinate annual inspections by local or state fire officials or other qualified person or entity.
  • Ensure availability of fire hoses or extinguishers at appropriate locations throughout the facility.
  • Establish, manage, and monitor safety training programs for facility staff members and detainees on the facility.
  • Develop and maintain a system for review of and compliance with safety and fire prevention standards and training.
  • Establish and coordinate monthly safety committee meetings within specified requirements of company policy or established facility policy.
  • Conduct accident review committees following all accidents.
  • Make rounds of the facility during inspections which requires walking and standing for long periods of time.
  • Regular attendance required.
  • Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
  • Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
  • It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
