About The Position

Reports to the warden. Responsible for the facility fire, safety and risk management programs in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

Requirements

High school diploma ad one (1) year experience in risk management related, loss control, worker’s compensation, occupational safety or related field, required.
Must successfully complete required pre service training.
Valid driver's license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage programs to ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations.
Ensure adequate fire protection services are provided and available to the facility.
Perform, arrange and coordinate fire inspections and testing of equipment on a frequent, scheduled basis.
Arrange and coordinate annual inspections by local or state fire officials or other qualified person or entity.
Ensure availability of fire hoses or extinguishers at appropriate locations throughout the facility.
Establish, manage, and monitor safety training programs for facility staff members and detainees on the facility.
Develop and maintain a system for review of and compliance with safety and fire prevention standards and training.
Establish and coordinate monthly safety committee meetings within specified requirements of company policy or established facility policy.
Conduct accident review committees following all accidents.
Make rounds of the facility during inspections which requires walking and standing for long periods of time.
Regular attendance required.
Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
Maintain accountability of staff, detainees and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her scope of work as determined by management.
