About The Position

Key Responsibilities Training & Development Deliver training and certification programs for Conductors, Locomotive Engineers, and other railroad operating personnel. Develop and maintain training materials, curriculum, and instructional resources aligned with FRA, OSHA, and company standards. Conduct classroom, field, and simulator-based training sessions. Evaluate employee proficiency and maintain accurate qualification and training records. Coach and mentor employees to ensure continual skill development and regulatory compliance. Safety Leadership Support and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and best practices. Conduct safety audits, job briefings, and field observations to ensure safe operating practices. Participate in incident investigations and development of corrective actions. Analyze safety trends and contribute to targeted safety improvement initiatives. Collaborate with field leadership to address safety concerns and promote employee engagement. Regulatory Compliance Ensure training programs meet all applicable FRA, OSHA, state, and company requirements. Maintain comprehensive documentation of qualifications, compliance records, and audit materials. Stay current on regulatory changes and industry best practices. Travel Travel to G&W locations as needed to support training, audits, and safety initiatives (estimated 30–50%). This position is employed by the specific entity set forth in the job posting. Requirements

  • FRAcertified Conductor and Locomotive Engineer (current or previously certified with ability to requalify).
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Minimum 5 years of railroad operating experience (short line, regional, or Class I preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of GCOR/GCORbased rules, railroad operations, and FRA compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct, mentor, and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to travel to multiple railroad locations and work in both office and field environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Transportation, Safety, Business, Education) or equivalent railroad industry experience.
  • Prior experience in training, safety, or rules instruction.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and developing safety improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, instructional design, and computerbased training platforms.
