The Opportunity Our location in Columbus, Ohio, currently has an opportunity for a Manager, Sales Strategy supporting our Similac brand. What You’ll Work On Co-develop and implement retail sales, pricing, profit and growth strategies and tactics while collaborating with multiple stakeholders to deliver top line, bottom line, sales, margin, and share goals Drives consistent profitable growth and increased market share by managing the complexity of business (forecast, funding, share) with a total retail understanding of the impact across all channels of business and functions including eCommerce Serves as the HQ (Brand, marketing, supply chain, finance) voice to the field to help deliver organizational goals Serves as the customer voice to internal teams to help achieve common goals Develops and implements total retail strategy for key Abbott Nutrition brands Partners with customer teams on promotional development, negotiations, communication of launch strategy amongst other things Partners with internal teams on new item launches, brand retail strategy (inclusive of 4Ps) and retail execution amongst other things Helps direct, develop and rationalize volume forecasts for new items, promotions, and total business Provides input into sales force detail plans Ensure that the sales team achieves internal and customer specific financial and non-financial goals Coordinates sales launch meetings for brand planning / new item launches Involved in preparation for sales meetings and other key presentations Operates independently within own scope of responsibility under minimal supervision. Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment. Demonstrates comfort in dealing with and turning ambiguity into thought leadership Demonstrated hands-on execution and problem-solving capabilities with ability to work within tight deadlines Performs non-repetitive, analytical work. Uses a wide application of principles, theories, concepts, and draws on previous experience to determine a course of action Handles both tactical and strategic work. Participates in projects such as the development of sales/marketing plans, forecasts, however generally informed of decisions made through the process for execution. Demonstrate strong understanding of customer P&L management. Work with customer and internal finance teams on financial management with solid understanding of gross and promo margin management, trade spend efficiency, and overall customer funding management. Develops solutions to complex problems, which require the regular use of ingenuity and innovation. Ensures solutions are consistent with organization objectives. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Field Planning and JBP Support -Partner with sales and define the customers’ strategies and objectives for Similac - Identifies business opportunities and leads brand integration and approval of promotions, coordinate with shopper on aligned JBP tactics, and Price & Promotion Management - understand channel pricing relationships and develop solutions to reduce channel conflict. - Collaborate with brand to develop and execute promotion strategy for Similac (Depth, frequency, duration and promoted sub-brands) Brand/Field Communication Liaison - Coordinates and conducts regular communication sessions between internal cross functional and sales teams to ensure alignment and accountability on budget, business planning and trade objectives. Supply monitoring/production prioritization Manage price increases Help facilitate WIC transitions SKU prioritization

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years industry experience with progressive role responsibility
  • Demonstrated sales management experience, managing multiple categories and customers
  • Strong financial acumen. Direct P&L management/ownership a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of sales, trade, category management, shopper/category development, as well as sales/marketing concepts and methods
  • Demonstrated ability to execute sales marketing strategies and tactics, as well as assist in the development of the strategies
  • Strong analytical ability. Ability to independently create and manipulate data in MS Excel spreadsheets
  • Ability to independently create presentations in MS PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills
