About The Position

The SMB Sales Manager is responsible for managing the sales team and all associated elements of sales execution for the SMB market segment(Schools, Small, and X-Small Districts). You will be responsible for owning and managing overall pipeline creation and stage management, achieving or exceeding quarterly and annual revenue targets, ensuring your team is adequately onboarded and trained to become effective Newsela sellers, developing national and regional strategies to support securing new and upsell business, and developing relationships with key schools and districts. As a leader for your segment, you will partner with our Learning & Enablement team to hire, mentor, coach, develop, and retain top talent to achieve individual quotas. You’ll also work to understand the funding, state initiatives, demographics, standards of adoption, and K-12 education landscape in your territory, and will develop and manage an overall action plan to achieve quota for that territory. Additionally, you’ll support our sales leadership in defining, planning, and executing initiatives that drive operational scalability, including implementing value-based controls (e.g. pricing, contract terms, etc.), sales processes designed to compress sales cycles, and accelerating / maximizing trial conversion. You will have the opportunity to further develop a strong team who is having success winning partnerships with K-12 schools and districts. Your work will directly enable the business to strengthen our footprint, bringing our products to schools nationwide and providing time-saving approaches that allow educators to design customized learning for different levels of learners. In addition to contributing to an incredible mission, you will get to collaborate within our sales organization to build strategy and process that enhances sales performance.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of sales management experience
  • Ability to support, train, and cultivate a culture of high performance where you effectively hold your team accountable for achieving quarterly and annual sales targets
  • Ability to skillfully create regional sales strategies, and are then able to successfully implement those strategies across your team
  • Well versed in Salesforce and have experience using sales tools and platforms to remotely manage and develop your team
  • Enthusiastic appreciation for the benefits of a strong inter-departmental collaboration
