Job Summary Responsible for procurement of products and services related to assigned portfolio. Manages and directs buyers assigned to specific area of responsibility, i.e. Surgical Services, Diagnostic Services, Support Services or Miscellaneous. Interfaces with Materials Management personnel to enhance level of service and improve Purchasing/Materials Management processes. Job Description Desired Skill Sets: Supply Chain warehouse experience highly preferred Prefer candidates with a minimum of a bachelor's degree (management, business, etc.) Strong Excel experience (Pivot Tables, V-Lookup) Minimum Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED required Licenses/Certifications: (None) Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Minimum of five (5) years experience in Hospital Purchasing, of related goods and services, with a minimum of two (2) years management/supervisory experience Requires basic knowledge of Materials Management Systems and ability to use personal computer, utilizing spreadsheet and other commonly used software programs Requires excellent written and verbal communications skills Requires proven ability to work effectively with peers, superiors and subordinates Effective oral and written communication skills Principal Accountabilities Maintains current knowledge of System, VHA and Novation contracts and assures compliance, as required. Prepares or supervises preparation of Request for Quotations or Proposals, solicits responses, prepares spreadsheet comparisons and makes awards/recommendations accordingly. Maintains current knowledge of products and sources related to assigned portfolio. Participates on Councils related to portfolio and acts as System liaison for related products and services. Maintains appropriate records of all related purchasing documents. Identifies staffing needs. Selects, trains, mentors, evaluates and counsels staff as appropriate. Communicates with staff and promotes staff ownership in problem solving and participation in operational decision-making. Serves as a positive role model to staff, ensuring that customer service is a priority. Ensures safe care to patients, staffs and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in Hospital Purchasing, of related goods and services, with a minimum of two (2) years management/supervisory experience
