About the position

As a Manager, UX/UI Research & Design, you will lead a growing UX/UI practice, utilizing your expertise in design thinking, UX/UI, and service design to transform holistic experiences across a portfolio of products and services. You will engage with users and collaborate closely with your team, stakeholders, and senior leadership to advocate for their needs, ensuring satisfying end-user experiences. This role involves a journey of discovery, framing problems creatively and analytically, and making strategic design decisions based on research, data, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Setting and upholding best practices for research and insights to enable designers to act as the voice of their end users.
  • Leveraging teams and user-centric methods to align business strategy, technical feasibility, and end-user needs in user experience design.
  • Illustrating a vision of advanced design principles through prototyping, interaction design, and visual design in user interface design.
  • Empowering the team to gain and apply expertise about end users, product fundamentals, and the grocery retail technology landscape.
  • Transforming processes with cross-functional peers and stakeholders to identify end-user needs and solve problems.
  • Stewarding team culture, developing trust with direct reports, and managing their development.
  • Overseeing multiple workstreams and coordinating team efforts to deliver quality work with measurable impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Design or related field; Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or Business Administration preferred.
  • 5 or more years of professional experience in UX/UI design.
  • 2 or more years of experience in an advanced design role supporting digital product development or innovation.
  • 2 or more years of experience onboarding and developing UX design team members.
  • Experience leading complex design programs from discovery through delivery with high-quality results.
  • In-depth knowledge of human-centered design, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and user interface models.
  • Experience facilitating workshops and gaining consensus among diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in collaborative design and prototyping tools such as Mural, Miro, Figma, InVision, Sketch, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Familiarity with front-end languages (like HTML) and data-analysis fundamentals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Post-graduate degree or advanced training in relevant fields.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Agile teams or product-based operating models.
  • 3 or more years of experience leading others or advancing enterprise design thinking within an organization.
  • Experience in retail or grocery.
