About The Position

The Managing Director of Gift Planning will support the mission of the University by leading programs to secure irrevocable and revocable planned gift commitments by alumni and other individuals. They will be responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship a portfolio of planned giving prospects, as well as developing complex gifting strategies across all portfolios emphasizing top of the pyramid support for Baylor. A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience are required. A master's degree or a law degree and eight years of relevant experience are preferred. A hybrid work arrangement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience are required.
  • A valid US Driver License with a clear driving record of at least two years is required.
  • Must be able to travel outside of the state of Texas.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis.

  • A master's degree or a law degree and eight years of relevant experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example by cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of principal gift level donors and prospects for irrevocable and revocable planned gifts
  • Collaborate with and proactively assist directors of development to increase number of irrevocable and revocable planned gift commitments utilizing complex asset gifting strategies that maximizes philanthropic support
  • Work in partnership with Baylor's Office of General Counsel as University Advancement’s legal liaison on issues arising related to gift planning and gift acceptance
  • Prepare written materials, including complex gift agreements and gift policies
  • Oversee and manage trust and estate administration to ensure Baylor's interests are protected
  • Provide legal oversight to Endowment Stewardship Program
  • Design and implement programs that utilize print, electronic and presentation approaches to significantly increase the number of prospects who make irrevocable and revocable planned gift commitments in order to achieve established annual fundraising goals - including stewardship planning via Old Main Society
  • Organize and deliver training materials and programming for the fundraising team to enhance knowledge and utilization of planned giving strategies, including educational opportunities with volunteer audiences, academic leaders, and university leadership
  • Collaborate with other University Advancement team members, other Baylor staff, and volunteers to inspire trust and encourage creative thinking, and foster cooperation to increase significantly private gifts to Baylor
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
