Summary The Managing Director, u nder the direction of the Capital Solutions Partner and with a direct reporting line to the Finance Practice Group Director, will provide internal and external support to the Capital Solutions group to improve key client relationships. You will be responsible for interacting directly with clients to ensure consistent team performance and global client development efforts for the Capital Solutions group. Also, you will be responsible for group administrative management, including identifying and advancing opportunities in capital solutions, private credit, distressed debt, special situations, and structured capital transactions to expand institutional client relationships and reinforce market positioning. Location This position is located in our Houston office and offers a hybrid work schedule.

  • Bachelor's Degree in legal studies, finance, business administration or similar field.
  • 10+ years of legal/law firm experience including at least 5 years of investment funds practice for investors.
  • In-house experience required.
  • Must have industry reputation (e.g., strong network) and engagement (e.g., ILPA or similar trade organization background).
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product.
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required.
  • Foster positive work relationships.
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Interacts directly with clients to ensure continuous feedback loop to include team performance, billing and collection needs and rate adjustments.
  • Ensures that work deliverables match client systems and needs for investment and legal and operations staff.
  • Manages internal functions for investment team. Ensures consistency on conflicts process and approach both on investor side and sponsor side. Manages client contact and process for obtaining approvals.
  • Analyzes data and ensures billing rates are correct and that internal practice group processes are running smoothly.
  • Develops, manages, and implements training for team members as needed or directed by practice group leadership.
  • Manages and ensures development and implementation of database.
  • Develops and manages the creation of quarterly client newsletter.
  • Develops finance metrics and meets with practice group leaders to determine strategic goals and investments.
  • May underwrite investments directly if needed on a billable basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
