We are currently seeking a Managing Engineer for our Metallurgical and Corrosion Engineering Practice in Houston, TX. In this role, you will work as part of a team to have a significant role in developing business and expanding the practice in your technical area of expertise.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
  • At least 5 – 10 years of related professional experience
  • Licensure as a professional engineer (PE or P. Eng) in Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline is required.
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the US, no immigration sponsorship or visa processing required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
  • A record of professional papers and presentations, and a proven record of dedication to quality and accuracy
  • Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff, and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals

Nice To Haves

  • Certification through the American Petroleum Institute’s Individual Certification Programs (e.g., API 580) is preferred but not required.
  • Litigation experience as a testifying expert is preferred but not required.
  • Business development experience with a proven track record
  • The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in their field

Responsibilities

  • Identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities
  • Significantly increasing Exponent's materials and corrosion engineering consulting efforts, particularly in upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas
  • Analyzing a wide variety of safety, performance and reliability issues related to materials and corrosion engineering using field inspections, engineering analysis and experimental testing
