We are currently seeking a Managing Engineer for our Metallurgical and Corrosion Engineering Practice in Houston, TX. In this role, you will work as part of a team to have a significant role in developing business and expanding the practice in your technical area of expertise.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
At least 5 – 10 years of related professional experience
Licensure as a professional engineer (PE or P. Eng) in Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline is required.
Presently legally authorized to work in the US, no immigration sponsorship or visa processing required
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
A record of professional papers and presentations, and a proven record of dedication to quality and accuracy
Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff, and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals

Nice To Haves

Certification through the American Petroleum Institute’s Individual Certification Programs (e.g., API 580) is preferred but not required.
Litigation experience as a testifying expert is preferred but not required.
Business development experience with a proven track record
The ideal candidate will be a recognized leader in their field

Responsibilities

Identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities
Significantly increasing Exponent's materials and corrosion engineering consulting efforts, particularly in upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas
Analyzing a wide variety of safety, performance and reliability issues related to materials and corrosion engineering using field inspections, engineering analysis and experimental testing

Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.
At the Manager level and above total compensation includes base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7% of base salary.
