Job Title : Manufacturing Engineer - Grind Reporting To: Leader, Mfg. Engineering Tech. Work Schedule: Onsite – Buffalo, NY Our team in Military Aircraft Group looking for a Manufacturing Engineer – Grind to join them. You will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Technical Leader and will have an onsite work schedule in East Aurora, NY. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will: Develop detailed manufacturing instructions and N/C programs to produce precision parts, determining the best procedures, tooling, and sequencing to bring engineering drawings to life. Spend hands-on time in production, troubleshooting issues, refining processes, and ensuring smooth operations for the parts you’re responsible for. Generate operation sheets and manufacturing procedures to streamline fabrication, ensuring compatibility with engineering specs and suggesting design tweaks to boost producibility. Convert N/C program outlines into coded machine instructions, supporting operators during program prove-outs to achieve flawless execution. Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes, establish standard setup and run times, and propose innovative equipment or method changes. Lead efforts to rework discrepant parts, implement corrective actions, and reduce future issues, ensuring top-notch quality. Assist in cost estimates for new proposals, guide Associate Manufacturing Engineers, and coordinate with vendors to align internal and external operations. Promote and uphold fundamental safety principles across the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, OR an Associate’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, OR a High School diploma with 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in ID/OD grinding, with a knack for working in tight tolerances (0.0005” or less).
  • Proven ability setting up and operating machines, paired with stellar communication and documentation skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • A problem-solver’s mindset, eager to innovate and improve processes in a high-energy manufacturing environment.
  • Broad knowledge of external and internal grinding techniques.
