About The Position

Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative products and services? As a Manufacturing Engineer I, you will support engineering and production by focusing on the core principles of manufacturability and assembly. You will assist in reviewing product designs and developing the necessary tooling and processes to ensure new products are launched efficiently and existing products are produced with high quality and consistency. The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline.
  • 0-2+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.
  • Basic proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software and process documentation.
  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain United States Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Internship or cooperative education experience in manufacturing.
  • Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Exposure to the Aerospace and Defense industry.
  • Familiarity in applying and interpreting Geometric.
  • Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to, parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.
  • Familiarity with work instruction/traveler development.
  • Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Experience with new product introduction and transition to production.
  • Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of detailed work instructions and process documentation.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of manufacturing processes for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to review product designs for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) .
  • Aid in the development and implementation of production tooling and fixtures.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and quality.
